LSMU Representatives Visited London

LSMU international alumni
During the visit to London on 17-21 March, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) international programme coordinators A. Surantienė and L. Dobilienė promoted studies at a higher education fair, organised an entrance examination, met the graduates and visited the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Kingdom (UK).
Studies at LSMU were presented at the largest international higher education fair in the UK. 48 educational institutions from different countries took part in that event. The opening of the fair took place on the first day along with the lecture about marketing opportunities of universities. On the same day, there were also meetings of the representatives of the participating universities with career consultants, who offer further higher studies to the UK high school students. On the second day of the event, all visitors were introduced with the study opportunities at LSMU.
It is nice to admit that the LSMU Medical Faculty alumnus, who graduated a few years ago, Kamal Ragupathy also participated in the fair. Kamal Ragupathy works at the UK hospital (Cheltenham General Hospital) and is seeking to acquire a family doctor‘s qualification.
LSMU stand at the fair attracted the visitors’ great attention. The University representatives provided detailed information about the studies to all the interested while the alumnus kindly shared his impressions and experience with the young people and their parents. The news about LSMU representatives’ participation in the fair also reached the UK Lithuanian community members. The Lithuanians living in the UK showed interest in studies in Lithuania, too.
During the visit, the University representatives met one more University graduate Ali Jomaa, who came to study at LSMU from Lebanon and graduated from the Medical Faculty in 2002. After graduation Ali Jomaa moved to the UK and now works in the UK hospitals (University College Hospital and Royal Free Hospital). The alumnus is aiming to receive a surgeon‘s qualification, which, for this particular qualification, happens in 10 years. Ali Jomaa also works as an honorary clinical teacher, research fellow, does his PhD and performs scientific work in liver transplantation in University College London.
During meetings with the alumni, collaboration possibilities were discussed. We are glad that Kamal Ragupathy agreed to be an LSMU representative and a reference person for all those who are interested in the studies at the University.
On 20 March, the entrance examination to LSMU was taken by 14 applicants and 12 of them successfully passed it. They were invited to study in LSMU Medical, Odontology and Veterinary medicine programmes.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the UK A. Skaisgirytė and the Embassy Second Secretary Ž. Senkuvienė gave a warm welcome to the University representatives. During the meeting, the information about the University, students and International Relations and Study Center activities was provided. We are happy that it was agreed to organize future entrance examinations to LSMU, graduates’ meetings and other events in the Embassy premises.
